Each year Southern California Blood Bank challenges high schools in Orange and Los Angeles counties to compete for the highest percentage of participation in blood drives at their school and for the highest number of units collected. Each school's achievements are tallied at the end of the school year. Winning schools are awarded grants ranging from $500 to $2500. Individual student are also eligible to win $500 scholarships. $500 scholarships will be awarded each year to two eligible Orange and Los Angeles county high school seniors pursuing higher education (e.g. college, university, community college, technical centers) to support tuition.
