San Diego Blood Bank and Southern California Blood Bank

Southern California Blood Bank (So Cal Blood Bank) is a division of San Diego Blood Bank, an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit blood bank that serves hospitals in San Diego, Orange, and Los Angeles counties.

Southern California Blood Bank is part of a vital group of nonprofit blood banks dedicated to connecting diverse communities to save and improve lives through blood and biotherapies. Our vision is to be an integral leader in advancing health and wellness through medical innovation.

For decades, San Diego Blood Bank has serviced hospitals in Orange, and Los Angeles Counties, operating as Southern California Blood Bank. Mobile blood drives at Hoag Medical Center in Newport Beach and a traveling So Cal Blood Bank bloodmobile have helped save the lives of thousands of patients each year from Los Angeles to the San Diego International Border. 

The Blood Bank partners with regional hospitals to provide a steady blood inventory and deliver blood products 24/7 for traumas, surgeries, emergencies, and more. To meet the growing demand for blood products in Orange and Los Angeles County hospitals, San Diego Blood Bank opened its first permanent donor center in Irvine—Irvine Business District Donor Center—on January 4, 2022, under the name Southern California Blood Bank. This new facility welcomes first-time and returning donors to give blood, platelets, and plasma.
