  • Cancer, Melanoma (excludes blood cancers) – wait 1 year from end of treatment (no wait for basal cell or squamous cell if healed)
  • Contact with person with Hepatitis B – wait 12 months; Hepatitis C Contact – wait 12 months if person is symptomatic
  • Contact with person with HIV/AIDS or someone with high risk behavior – wait 12 months
  • Contact with another person’s blood (open skin contact) – wait 12 months
  • Diabetes – no wait if medically controlled
  • Heart Disease (Angina, Heart Attack, MI) – wait 6 months and you must be asymptomatic at time of donation.
  • Malaria - 3 years after successful treatment
  • Pregnancy/Abortion/Miscarriage – wait 6 weeks after delivery, abortion, or miscarriage
  • Stroke (CVA) – wait 6 months from stroke
